UCLA Bruins' Strategic Focus Against Undermanned Opponents
Competing in the Big Ten presents unique challenges for basketball teams, including intense competition and demanding travel schedules. Recently, UCLA faced Oregon, a team missing several key players. While many might view this as an advantage, UCLA's head coach Mick Cronin emphasized the importance of maintaining high preparation standards. Following their 73-57 victory, Cronin noted that he intensifies his focus in such situations to ensure his players remain alert and ready for any challenge.
Oregon was without three of its top scorers, leaving Kwame Evans Jr. to lead with 24 points. However, UCLA's defense proved formidable, limiting Oregon to just 36% shooting and preventing any other Ducks player from scoring in double figures. The Bruins' players collectively excelled on the boards, showcasing their depth and preparation despite Oregon's struggles. Cronin acknowledged the unpredictability of college basketball, highlighting that even undermanned teams can pose significant threats if not approached with the right mindset.

Seating was crazy!
My family and I purchased General Admission seats. Obviously I didn't expect the best seat in the house, but I did expect a seat. As we were attempting to find our seats, security was not allowing people to pass through the hallways and into the seating area because it was too crowded since apparently it was over sold. People were pushing their way through and entering the stadium so we did the same. Luckily we were able to find a place to sit, but was so frustrated with security attempting to enter when we had paid for our ticket. We ended up missing most of the 1st quarter.
UCLA Hummm ranking dropping....
I was surprised, at the team's inconsistencies in comparison to last year. The defensive pursuit to the ball stands out as the most lackluster I've seen. LOL, I am 56 yrs old, and wish I could have helped with pursuing the ball. It was difficult to watch player's not get the help they needed and deserved. Wow, I can only imagine the coaches response as they review the video. I would not want to be a player, in the room watching myself not pursue the ball and get an assisted tackle. By the way, LOL...I am only talking...I would not want to be on the field, but would rather be on the field than in the video session which should be more painful. LOL Please forward this to the coaches....as I am sure they would understand.
How are you supposed to get there and leave
There was no Uber/Lyft pick up or drop off. We left a little into the third quarter to make sure we could catch a ride home. We were told there was no set place to go, and that there were shuttles that could take us to old town to get a ride, but that they wouldn’t start leaving until after the game. We walked a little away, and tried to get a car. The Lyft driver called us and said the event staff was refusing to let her in. The event staff near us told us to walk farther. We ended up walking about two miles up a hill to the middle of nowhere. We finally were able to get a car, over an hour since we left the game. I will not be going to anymore rose bowl games if there is no planned or safe way to get home.
